John Claude Krusz, PhD, MD, received his Ph.D. in neuropharmacology from State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center in 1975 and his Medical Degree from State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine in 1983. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry and also the American Board of Forensic Examiners. He is board certified in Pain Management, EEG and Quantitative Electroencephalography. He is the Vice President of the American Board of Electroencephalography and Neurophysiology. Dr. Krusz currently serves on the Editorial Board of the American Academy of Pain Management. Dr. Krusz has been involved in extensive research in the area of headache and pain disorders. He is in private practice in Neurology/Headache and Pain Disorders in Dallas, and serves as the head of his multi-disciplinary clinic Anodyne Headache and PainCare. He has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Texas Pain Society and, most recently, obtained Subspecialty Certification in Headache Medicine, in the first group to do so.

Dr. Krusz’s primary areas of interest include evaluation and novel treatments of headaches, pain syndromes and neurobehavioral disorders. He is especially interested in outpatient treatment issues, especially where intravenous acute management of symptoms is concerned. Neuropsychiatric interests include traumatic brain injury, Tourette’s Syndrome, Asperger’s Syndrome, Attention Deficit Disorders and Deaf and Hard of hearing related problems. He helped found the National Deaf People’s Institute in Dallas.

Dr. Krusz is on the Speaker’s Bureau for Acorda, Allergan, GlaxoSmithKline, Lilly, Merck, Pfizer, Ortho-McNeil, Sanofi-Aventis, Sepracor, Wyeth-Ayerst, and Valeant. He is also a consultant for Acorda, Allergan, Endo, GlaxoSmithKline and has received grants/research support from Abbott, Elan, Endo, GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer and Solstice.

Jane Cagle, LVN, has a long background in hospital work and in IV therapies. She has also worked with patients who have IV medication ports. She has a strong interest in acute management of headache and pain flare-ups in the outpatient setting. She also participates in clinical studies and has published results of clinical studies with Dr Krusz and other members of the Anodyne Headache and PainCare team.

Ann Harris looks over the administration section of the practice on a day-to-day basis. She performs admirably in screening appropriate patients for the clinic on a continuing basis. She is excellent at accurate coding, billing, and in helping patients recover the maximum reimbursement from the insurance structures. Liaison work with insurance issues as well as attorney matters related to complex litigation is also a forté.

Maria Lopez, REEGT, RN, has a host of skills acquired over many years. She is board-certified as an EEG and evoked potentials technologist. She captures the brain and nerve electrical information needed to diagnose brain disorders. Ms Lopez then went on to get a degree in nursing and has worked with children, in the ER and the ICU settings. In the future, we hope to see her continue studies, hopefully in some clinical field.

Virginia Scott works in administration, clinical research and marketing in many capacities with the Anodyne practice. She keeps tracks of outside talks, conferences and many business aspects of the clinic activities. She also directs and participates in marketing for the practice and in helping take Anodyne Headache and PainCare to new directions in terms of providing services. In particular, she has been active in setting up IV therapy protocols using telemedicine techniques so that Anodyne Headache and PainCare can guide other clinicians when they treat pain and headache problems in remote locations.

In all, we look forward to helping you conquer your headaches or pain, or both, and helping you craft a better and more productive lifestyle. Family members, especially spouses and children are encouraged to accompany the patient even if only for a part of the treatment time at the clinic.
